Be the Person You Want to See in the Mirror

A field guide to doing what you say, reaching higher, and living proud.

The Promise You Keep

Trust is the quiet engine of a great life. Every time you do what you say you’re going to do, you add a brick to a foundation that can hold anything—relationships, businesses, big dreams. Keeping your word isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency. When you miss, you own it, reset, and recommit.

Mantra: I keep promises—especially the ones I make to myself.

Reach for the Skies

The ceiling you feel is often a story you’ve told yourself too many times. Reaching for the skies means setting goals that stretch you beyond comfort and into growth. It’s trading “someday” for a calendar date, an action plan, and a first step taken today.

Try this: Write down one goal that scares you a little. Then list three domino actions you can take in the next 24 hours to start the chain.

Defy the Limits

Limits test your creativity. When you hit resistance, ask better questions:

  • What would this look like if it were easy?

  • Who has already solved this, and what can I borrow?

  • If I couldn’t fail, what would I attempt today?

Defying limits doesn’t mean ignoring reality; it means refusing to be defined by yesterday’s version of you.

Do the Right Thing—Every Time

Being proud of who you are starts with integrity you can feel. The right thing is rarely the easy thing, but it’s always the thing that lets you sleep at night. Choose honesty, fairness, and accountability—even when nobody is watching.

Integrity check: If a decision had your name on the front page tomorrow, would you still make it?

Aim for the Best-For-Everyone Outcome

Win–win isn’t naïve; it’s strategic. When you look for solutions that honor everyone’s best interests, doors open that force can’t unlock. Ask: What result would make all parties better off? If a true win–win isn’t possible, choose the most ethical path, communicate clearly, and own your part.

The Mirror Test

Every morning the mirror gives you an audience of one. Be the person you want to see: courageous, kind, reliable, relentless. If yesterday fell short, today is fresh—no permission needed.

Two-minute reset:

  1. Breathe deep for ten slow counts.

  2. Name three things you’re grateful for.

  3. Say out loud: “Today I will do what I said I would do.”

Micro-Habits to Live This Today

  • Say less, deliver more. If you commit, calendar it.

  • Use a 24-hour rule. Take one concrete action on any new goal within a day.

  • Set integrity alarms. A daily reminder: Did I keep my word?

  • Default to generous. Assume good intent and look for the shared win.

  • Reflect nightly. One sentence: What did I do today that made me proud?

A Simple Pledge

I will do what I say. I will reach higher than my fear. I will defy limits with courage and creativity. I will choose what’s right, aim for the good of everyone when I can, and show up as the person I want to see in the mirror—today and every day.

Pin it. Share it. Most importantly—live it.
