Knoxville near top of Realtor.com's Most Popular Markets 2024 list

The secret is definitely out.

In a recent article, Realtor.com revealed that Knoxville ranked among the highest midsize cities in its Most Popular Markets 2024 list.

To calculate a city’s popularity, they looked at the cities that attracted the highest levels of buying interest in the past year. You won't be susprised that big cities like New York City, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, and Tampa, FL, attracted the most views across the country. But those places also have the most homes for sale. When they adjusted its analysis for market size, cities like Knoxville, Columbus, Louisville and Pittsburgh were more popular with shoppers.  

Among the top 10 most popular markets that Realtor.com identified, five are in the South, three are in the Northeast, and two are in the Midwest. None is in the West, according to the article. A Realtor.com economist pointed out that weather is a big draw for those cities in the south.

Here's what the article says about Knoxville:

"Knoxville, No. 2 on the list, has become a premier destination in the region due to its high quality of life that blends urban and suburban living as well as growing job opportunities. Numerous outdoor activities also make it an attractive place for families.

Over the past 12 months, Knoxville homes have gained nationwide interest, including from the Northeast (12.9%), South (67.3%), Midwest (10.8%), and West (9.1%). Among out-of-state buyers, people from New York show the highest interest in Knoxville homes, followed by shoppers from Georgia and Florida."
